Onset Village ”The Hidden Gem” will be the place to be as it kicks off this summer with a string of fabulous festivals. On July 21, 2012, Onset locals and jazz lovers from near and far will be pleasingly intoxicated as The Onset Beach Jazz Festival welcomes Boston’s own Award Winning Saxophonist, “Walter Beasley”. “This is #2 for us”, says Onset native and festival founder, Mikelyn Roderick and we couldn’t be more excited to have Walter coming here to our beautiful little town.
Some of you may be too young to remember, but for those who were fortunate enough to experience Onset during the 40′s and 50′s will remember how significant a role Onset played to jazz music. Onset was the home of The Golden Clef, The Blue Flame, Rocky Manor and the famed “Colonial Casino”. It was nothing to see such Jazz greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and The Count,”Basie”. Onset has a rich jazz history and our vision is too bring jazz back. The festival is free and will feature delicous faire by “Uncle Bob Silvia” of Wareham. Cranberries Restaurant of Bourne and more. Festival attendees can also walk a few short steps to Mark Anthony’s for their World Famous Pizza and “Breakfast Is Always Served” at Pier View Restaurant! Vendors from near and far will also be on hand with eye catching pieces to purchase!
So come on down and join us and give your mind, body and soul some jazz and a day at the beach! See ya there, The Onset Beach Jazz Festival 2012
